Lavender Oil – 5 different uses for skin and hairLavender Oil - 5 Different Ways to Use It

In recent times essential oils have become a trend setter in beauty segment. They have begun to play a massive role in skin care, hair care and body care. Also the fact that there are numerous types of essential oils to choose from has made their contribution more effective and relevant. So even I had to jump on the essential oil bandwagon. After all I wanted to experience what it is that is making them such a huge rage among everyone. After having been an avid user of them for some months now I can safely say that they actually stood up to my expectations.

Over the past months I have used different types of essential oils to cater to my beauty needs but the one that I absolutely fell in love with is “Lavender Oil”. Lavender oil is one of the most versatile essential oil that can one can think of. It is loaded with anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antibacterial, antidepressant and antimicrobial properties. I started incorporating lavender oil in my life in different ways and it brought a healthy change in my routine. The versatility of lavender oil also comes from the fact that it can be used for different purposes.

Five Different ways to use Lavender Oil

1. Anti hair fall agent

We all suffer from hair fall problems on a regular basis and so do I. In my search for products that can tackle the issue I never came across any such hair care product that would actually solve it. Even tried different DIY’s but the only thing that came to my rescue is Lavender oil. Adding lavender oil to my hair oiling process has been a boon for me. Ever since I started adding it to carrier oils or just used Lavender based oil my hair fall has not only reduced but my hair has become more healthy.

2. Ultimate save from itchy scalp

We can have itchy scalp sometimes which can be due to dryness or dandruff or just dirt being accumulated in the hair. The constant itching is a huge problem as well. That’s where lavender came into play. Massaging lavender oil to the scalp gives a huge relief from the constant itching. The scalp isn’t that dry anymore and dandruff well you can say goodbye to them. Do remember to mix it with any carrier oil of your choice.

3. Treating Acne

I do not have an oily skin but I do get terrible acne sometimes, mostly when I am lazy enough to not clean my face. We all know that tea tree oil is great for treating acne but to my surprise lavender oil worked wonders as spot treatment for acne. Add few drops of lavender oil on a cotton bud and press it against the acne concentrating directly on it and the area surrounding it. Lavender having antibacterial properties actually helps in reducing acne overnight.

4. Scrub Buddy

I am obsessed with scrubs and mostly home made scrubs. Every time I want to exfoliate my skin I go ahead and whip up my own DIY and lavender oil plays a significant part in it. Adding lavender oil to sugar, coffee and coconut oil makes the scrub not only smell wonderful but also more effective for the skin as it prevents dryness and itchiness of the skin. Oh and btw it works as a great anti-ageing as well.

5. Relaxing Agent

Lavender is also known for its calming and relaxing properties which ultimately helps in fighting stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia. There are days when I am stressed out to a great extent and lavender oil just helps in bringing that down and calming me as well. Adding few drops of it in my bath or on my pillow helps me to calm down and relax. Also just rubbing it to the pulse points of the body helps to sleep better. You can always try using it in an oil diffuser and the aroma that it spreads relaxes the mind and body and definitely keeps that stress at bay.

To finish up few important tips though.
• Always use any essential oil with a carrier oil.
• Don’t forget to do a patch test before trying any of the suggestions.
• There are number of brands to choose from for lavender oil. I personally love “Aroma Treasures”. Its budget friendly and does the job for me. You can obviously choose whichever suits you best. 
